Come out TONIGHT for some 50s Hollywood glamour and intrigue (and luscious ice cream)!

Tickets are available on the door tonight for our 1st birthday special screening of Hitchcock’s amazing ‘Vertigo’ (1958, Cert PG) starring James Stewart and Kim Novak and set in spectacular San Francisco. Under 16s welcome. The film was voted No.1 in last year’s 10-year poll of over 800 international film critics in the BFI’s famous ‘Sight & Sound’ poll.

A captivating performance by Kim Novak, with James Stewart in an untypical but career-changing role.

The film is rarely seen at the cinema and tonight will be in the main cinema on the BIG screen in the Bromley Hall – refreshments from 6.40pm and the film programme starts at 7.30pm with two special introductions to the film and Bernard Herrmann’s amazing mesmerising music (brief but informative!). We’ll also be selling Simply ice cream from Ashford in Kent – Honeycomb Crunch is everyone’s favourite but the other flavours are great too!

7pm: Our first film is the new mischievous ‘Hitchcock’ bio-pic [Cert 15] a witty and glamorous evocation of 1950s Hollywood with the amazing Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren about the making of ‘Psycho‘ (and one of the longest and most successful marriages in Hollywood) and starring Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh. Interval: Free food to keep you going! Followed by the original ground-breaking 1960s ‘Psycho’ [Cert 15] – rarely seen on the BIG screen (come and re-appraise it for yourself) – just after 9pm and event finishes 11/11.10pm. Janet Leigh (Jamie Lee Curtis’s mother) and Anthony Perkins help to create one of cinema’s iconic masterpieces!

Come on… ‘It’s only a movie Ingrid!’ – as Hitch said to Ingrid Bergman! So don’t be scared… it’s a bravura display of great editing and created the template for many contemporary thrillers and horrors but far more clever and restrained than its imitators (there is a teensy weensy bit of blood, but it’s actually CHOCOLATE SAUCE!). The classic shower sequence was storyboarded by Hollywood graphic designer maestro, the legendary Saul Bass.

SECONDLY – BIG FILM NIGHT – Our Sing-Along ‘Grease’ (Cert PG) spectacular on Thursday 11 July has 2 live singing and dancing numbers to open the show, a live-wire MC, fancy-dress competition and lots of fun singing along to all the hits to get you in the mood for Summer (when it finally, possibly, arrives!). Under 16s are welcome if accompanied by and sitting with an adult, as appropriate to a Cert. PG. In our large cinema space. Adults £8, concessions £5. FREE PARKING!
