This amazing  multi award-winning film was 25 years old in 2013 and we are showing the original 1988 version on 7 May 2014 (in Italian with subtitles).- cert PG, under 16s very welcome. Romance, comedy, drama – and memorable music from maestro Ennio Morricone. Film: 155 minutes. Bar opens 6.40pm and film programme starts at 7.30pm.

Storyline: A famous film director remembers his childhood at the town’s Cinema Paradiso where Alfredo, the projectionist, first brought about his love of films. He returns home to his Sicilian village for the first time after almost 30 years and is reminded of his first love, Elena, who disappeared from his life before he left for Rome. (

French veteran Phillipe Noiret stars with the adorable Salvatore Cascio (who was 9 years old when the film was made).
