Today in Beckenham HRH Prince Edward Earl of Wessex officially opened Langley Park Boys!

Preceded by excellent speeches by the new Headteacher of Langley Park School for Boys, Mr Steve Parsons, and the Mayor of Bromley, Ernest Noad, HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, with relaxed wit and humour, drew back a maroon curtain on the brass plaque which now commemorates this official ceremony. The Bromley Hall exploded this afternoon with applause and cheers, as did the classrooms around the School, which were full of pupils watching the ceremony on a live video stream. The Prince is well-known as a supporter of the performing arts and was identified early on as an appropriate person to officially open the School.

At the heart of both speeches was the School’s enduring vision for educating the whole person, not just focusing on academic excellence, but encouraging excellence also in the Arts, Music, Sport and Outdoor Education, as well as the School’s central location in the local community.

FILMBOX is delighted to be a part of that community vision, uniting LPSB staff and students, with parents and local people in a ‘not-for-profit’ endeavour which promotes love of the art of film and the pleasure of cinema-going.
