Lots of FAB films to see from now until Christmas – starting with the indie hit ‘Mud’ with Matthew McConaughey on Wed 9 Oct!

We had a superb time across our 3-day 1st Birthday film festival – over 600 local people enjoyed live music, professional jazz and 6 films – including 335 people to our 4 free film event on Saturday 28 Sept. – our outdoor film even cheated Saturday night’s rain by a good 10 mins! It was lovely to see you all and so many new faces!
Our next film will be on Wed 9 October – reviewed with 4 and 5 stars in the international press ‘Mud’ (Jeff Nicholls, USA, 2012, Cert 15, 130 mins – we won’t be showing a short film beforehand so we can finish before 10pm) with Matthew McConaughey (in a very non-rom com performance which is charismatic and mysterious), Reese Witherspoon and a ‘stand out’ performance from teenage actor, Tye Sheridan (Terence Malick’s ‘Tree of Life’).
Even though we are based in a school, our cinema spaces are separate from it and people tell us they’re the best in the local area and we have a rather nice cafe/bar too – always open before the film. Do come and try us – FREE parking!
A first time visitor to our festival at the weekend gave us this lovely feedback: ‘We also really appreciated the warm welcome and approach from everyone involved. I feel like we have found a real gem and will definitely be back to visit you again.’
‘MUD’ – Terrific cinematography, superb performances all round, including cameo from veteran writer/director/actor Sam Shepard, ‘Mud’ is a Huck Finn-like tale of Mississippi adventures, with a bit of ‘Great Expectations’ thrown in for good measure – the adult world seen through the eyes of a young boy.
