Can You Hear the People Sing?

Hello! This holiday, we have been distributing  FILMBOX postcards via shops in West Wickham and Beckenham and if you are visiting this site because you received one – WELCOME!  Please display our card if possible or let your staff and customers know about us – we are very keen to develop our community cinema for all in the area and offer you more films and exciting events with added extras from September, so please help us to grow. We can’t compete with commercial cinemas but we very much hope to compliment their programming, whether by offering you a chance to catch up with films you had meant to see, or by showing films which you simply can’t see at your local cinema.

We are a non-profit venture, all staffed by volunteer teachers, parents, students from Langley Park School for Boys, as well as former students and local residents. Any profits will be donated to a charity of the members’ choice.  If you’d like to be a member, please see the Membership section and complete the form.

We will be announcing our Autumn programme very shortly (hopefully fortnightly from September) and four members of the FILMBOX team are attending the Independent Cinema Office’s screening days event next weekend, where pre=released films are shown to independent cinema programmers, so that we can see what great films are coming up for us to show you! (

And… yes indeedy… there are many excellent seats available for our screening of Les Misérables on Thurs 16 May, see below – so please book now! Films are better with an audience – see films as the film-makers intended.

If you are a business and would like to advertise it via an association with FILMBOX please email us at – we are very proud and grateful to have such a discerning and loyal membership who are interested in culture and local events, groups and produce, so we can introduce them to you effectively and directly without wasted revenue. If you would like to become a part of our team, and as we are expanding in September, we will need a bigger team, so please email as above.

The recently built state-of-the-art Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts, based at Langley Park School for Boys, is rapidly becoming THE place to see great music, drama and film events on your doorstep and most of its events are open to all members of the local community and we hope very much to see you here soon. Founded in September 2012 to provide a wider film programme than available in local commercial cinemas, at good value prices for grown-ups, with a sociable community atmosphere and a licensed bar. We are a not-for-profit community cinema with a membership, open to non-members too. Run by dedicated and energetic volunteers.
